At CMG Engineers, Inc. (CMG), we’ve been delivering smart, practical, and sustainable engineering solutions since 2000. Founded by Gary Cowles and David Murphy as Cowles and Murphy Engineering, the firm quickly built a reputation for forward-thinking design and reliable results. In 2002, John Glover joined as a shareholder, and the company became Cowles, Murphy, Glover & Associates. Growth continued with Scott Fletcher in 2019, and in 2025 Bruce Smith and Patrick Garstecki joined as shareholders, marking the transition to our current name: CMG Engineers, Inc.
While our name has evolved, our values have remained the same. We are dedicated to delivering solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients and communities. Built on a foundation of technical excellence, integrity, and collaboration, we partner with public and private sector clients to guide projects from concept to completion.
Over the past 25 years, CMG has grown into a trusted leader in the engineering industry, recognized for quality, client-focused service, and the ability to bring complex projects to life. Our close-knit team of highly skilled professionals brings together more than 100 years of combined experience across a wide range of disciplines, including:
Marine applications
Material handling systems
Shipyard facilities
Civil and site design
Rail design
Commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings
Rigging, lifting, and transport engineering
We are small enough to provide personal service, yet diverse enough to deliver multidisciplinary expertise. What sets CMG apart is not just our experience—it’s how we apply it. We work side by side with clients, turning complex challenges into clear, workable solutions that move projects forward.
Beyond our engineering work, we remain committed to the communities we serve. CMG proudly supports national organizations such as the American Cancer Society, as well as local initiatives along the Gulf Coast, including the Thomas Hospital Foundation and Mary’s Shelter for pregnant women. For us, success is measured not only in completed projects, but also in the positive impact we make in the lives of those around us where we live and work.
